Recommendations for Reluctant Readers

Recommendations, Resources

I get asked a lot for recommendations for reluctant readers. Although I prefer not to generalise, I have put together a ‘go-to’ list of general recommendations I fall back on.

Another ‘go-to’ list is often the comedy books as reluctant readers tend to like the diary format of books such a Diary of a Wimpy Kid; as well as the ridiculous situations often portrayed in the comedy stories.

The best way to encourage reading is to tailor recommendations to the individual based on their personal preferences. Obviously, this is often a case of trial and error as the student learns to become aware of their own preferences and keeps an open mind when trying something different.
