Catherine Hunter is the daughter of a senior government official on the island of Anglya. She’s one of the privileged – she has luxurious clothes, plenty to eat, and is protected from the Collections which have ravaged families throughout the land. But Catherine longs to escape the confines of her life, before her dad can marry her off to a government brat and trap her forever.
So Catherine becomes Cat, pretends to be a kid escaping the Collections, and stows away on the skyship Stormdancer. As they leave Anglya behind and brave the storms that fill the skies around the islands of Tellus, Cat’s world becomes more turbulent than she could ever have imagined, and dangerous secrets unravel her old life once and for all . .
REVIEW by YEAR 8 (2013/14)
Take Back the Skies is a thrilling, exciting book. Combining action and romance, Take Back the Skies will appeal to both genders.
Lucy Saxon is a very talented, she is able to paint a picture in your imagination of the characters and the setting. She has the ability to make the reader feel involved in the story. Although the book is well written I did feel as if the story itself was unrealistic and therefore, difficult to relate to. I have to say I was disappointed with the ending, I felt it moved too quickly and spoiled overall feel of the book for me, this is my personal opinion and in no reflection of the authors talent.
While I had issues with the ending and unrealistic elements of the plot I still think Lucy Saxon is an author to watch out for. Lucy Saxon’s writing skills are fantastic, I would go so far as to say she is phenomenally talented and I will be looking out for more of her work in the future.
